Discography:

"French Remix" is a delightfully quirky selection of acoustic island-influenced French/English pop originals with driving percussion, upright bass, smokin' sax solos and sultry vocals that transport you to an exotic French café…Morocco? Tangiers? Madagascar? Paris? C’est pas possible a dire. Produced with Paris-based musician and composer Jim Cuomo, and recorded with stellar musicians in both Portland and Paris, the "French Mix" world premiere CD release party was held at Café de Cluny in the heart of Paris’ Latin Quarter.

"Nuit et Jour" (a charming collection of jazz standards sung in French and English) was recorded with internationally acclaimed jazz pianist Tom Grant, bassist Dave Captein and drummer Graham Lear, including special guest appearances by Paul Elliot on violin and Nova Devonie on accordion. The "Nuit et Jour" world premiere CD release party was held at The Fez Ballroom in the heart of downtown Portland, and was a benefit for Mercy Corps.

Both CDs have received regional radio airplay on KMHD 89.1fm, KBOO 90.7fm and OPB 91.5fm

Rossio Solo Performance Bio

Recording artist and performer Carol Rossio is a shining light on the Pacific Northwest jazz scene. Carol performs jazz and pop with French flair – ooh-la-la! Her vocal styling conjures visions of a perfect Parisian café night, filled with the joys and sadness of romance. A singer who makes every song her own, Carol brings taste and charm to every rendition, wringing nuance from both classic jazz and pop songs. Working in an intimate combo setting, Carol’s live shows enchant audiences with her range and charisma.

Carol has teamed with the Pacific Northwest’s most renowned musical artist, jazz pianist Tom Grant, for both a recording project and performances. Other performing credits include opening for Grammy award-winning Latin jazz artist Poncho Sanchez and also for four-time Grammy nominee, UNICEF spokesperson and internationally acclaimed Sony recording artist Angelique Kidjo. Carol has sung as a soloist at The Jazz Cafe and Fox & Hound in Havana, Cuba; The Jazz Spot in Edinburgh, Scotland; Auberge du Soleil in Napa, CA; Rick’s Nightclub in Zihuatanejo, Mexico; Baiser Sale, Petit Journal Montparnasse, Café de Cluny and Petit Opportun in Paris and other spots throughout the U.S. and Europe.

In addition to performing in Portland for a special traveling Smithsonian exhibit entitled “The Jazz Age in Paris”, Carol has headlined the “Bastille in the Pearl” event sponsored by the Alliance Francaise for the past three years. She has also sung at the Nike World Master Games, The French American International School, The Northwest International Film Festival, The Portland International School and at festivals, wineries, wedding receptions and for private parties and corporate events.

When in Portland, Carol performs regularly with conductor Carlos Kalmar and the Oregon Symphony as a member of the Portland Symphonic Choir as well as with the First Unitarian Church Choir. Other choral credits include performances at The United Nations and Boston Symphony Hall with the Paul Winter Consort and the Back Bay Chorale and a memorable performance of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis at The Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall conducted by famed choral conductor Robert Shaw.

Rossio Choral Performance Bio

I have sung in choirs almost every year since junior high - so, that's over 30 years of choral singing! While I lived in Boston from 1981-1986 I was a member of the Back Bay Chorale directed by Larry Hill (we performed Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia at The United Nations and Boston Symphony Hall with the Paul Winter Consort), and I also sang with the Harvard Summer Chorus. Since moving to Portland I have sung with the Portland Symphonic Choir (pschoir.org) from 2004-Present, with the Choral Arts Ensemble of Portland (caeportland.org) from 1988-2004 and with the First Unitarian Church Choir off and on from 1986-Present.
I have also gone on two choir tours with this group; the first trip we visited Leipzig, East Berlin, Prague, Budapest and Vienna in 1990 (six months after the wall fell, a fascinating time to be over there) and then Cuba in 2003 (we flew over the day the war was declared as our metaphysical declaration of peace). On this tour we stayed in Havana, met and sang with different Cuban choirs daily, had joint music workshops and lunch, then performed a concert all together at the end of the week at the cathedral in Old Havana. The concert was broadcast on national Cuban TV. I also had a fabulous opportunity to sit in with a couple of bands in jazz clubs there, including the band of Tito Puente's nephew!
Unfortunately I can't seem to find the document detailing every piece I've ever sung (a master program book, if you will, for my life), but here are the major classical pieces that I recall singing (some more than once):

Bach b Minor Mass
Bach Cantatas (several)
Bach St. Matthew Passion
Bach Magnificat
Beethoven 9th Symphony
Beethoven Choral Fantasy
Beethoven Missa Solemnis
Brahms Requiem
Britten Ceremony of Carols
Durufle Quatre Motets
Durufle Requiem
Faure Requiem
Gabrieli O Magnum Mysterium
Handel Messiah
Haydn Lord Nelson Mass
Ives Psalm 100
Johanson Lux Aeterna
Lauridsen Lux Aeterna
Mendelssohn Elijah
Mozart Requiem
Poulenc Gloria
Purcell Dido and Aeneas
Schutz Magnificat
Stravinsky Symphony of Psalms
Vaughn Williams Dona Nobis Pacem
Vaughn Williams Serenade to Music
Verdi Requiem
Vivaldi Gloria

With the Oregon Symphony and/or Portland Symphonic Choir I have also performed:

Adams Transmigration of Souls (9/11 Tribute)
Lord of the Rings
PDQ Bach with Peter Schickele
